Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Always happy to hear that not all 'developers' are neglectful of history. Life is not always about what is new and innovative. I am the owner of two historic homes, both of which have been painstakingly restored. I wear them with pride. If ever you should need an architect that has an innate understanding of aesthetics both old and new, then look no further than Timothy Cronin...

Thank goodness, I hate to see another beautiful old house relegated to the back lots of memory just to accommodate a Chili's. This is a really great house. If I ever build one I'll call you to be my architect.

Dear Chance Langton,
I applaud your good taste in houses. The simple, clean elegance of the rambling old-fashioned R.B. Wills' Cape Houses appeals to homeowners as much today as it did half a century ago. The towns of Milton and Cohasset are amply blessed with excellent examples of this great American house type. Many modern architects and builders attempt to duplicate the charm of these houses, but it takes a good eye and an educated hand to render those elements that make a good house GREAT. I am available to assist you in realizing your dream of buying or building the home of your desire.
Yours,
Timothy Cronin, AIA

I would like to buy a Royal Barry Wills Cape in either Milton or Cohasset. I would prefer the house to be no more than 2300 square feet. I prefer the cape to have the Will's nuances. But at the same time relatively simple. Thank you.

It's great knowing a whole new generation of young architects are carrying on in Wills' footsteps. Your colonial work looks like it could have been built generations ago. Keep up the good work.

A friend of mine who still lives in the neighborhood saw your post and told me to check it out. I always LOVED this house growing up in Wellesley. I'd either ride my bike or drive my car on Hundreds Road every day and always thought this was the nicest house in town. Maybe one day I'll hit the lottery and have you design a similar house for me!

Dear Elizabeth,

Always a treat, meeting another distant Cronin cousin. I sometimes wonder if there are any of us left in County Cork.

I agree, Myrna Loy's conversation about paint colors with the contractor is one of the best moments in the film. It's funny and true to life. My clients have picked house colors to match wildflowers picked on site, curtains from their old house, the blue in Chinese export teacups, and the golden label on a bottle of Veuve Cliquot Champagne!

I have often thought of drawing up a complete set of construction drawings for the Blandings' Dream House based on available photos and floor plans. If you're interested in persuing this, let me know. This could be just the occasion I've been waiting for.

Best wishes,

Tim

Mr. Blandings...is one of my favorite movies. I love houses and especially this one. The setting is beautiful. Can you tell me if any sketches or plans are available? Most of the drawings I have seen on the Internet are not easy to read. Thank you for any information you can providde. I just love the way Mryna Loy described the paint colors.
